The company was founded at its current location in 1914 as Messingwerk Unna AG producing products of copper and brass. In the 1970s a far-sighted corporate planning policy ensured that the decision to concentrate on aluminum only was correct.
The company was a family-owned medium sized enterprise for over 60 years. During the 80’s Aluminiumwerk Unna AG belonged to a group producing extrusions and castings.
In the 1980’s Aluminiumwerk Unna AG was owned by the Aluteam Group, which later merged with the Austrian aluminium group Austria Metall AG (AMAG). During the 90’s AMAG became sole owner until the 1st January 2000 when Aluminiumwerk Unna AG was taken over by Thomas Wiese and the employees of the company.
Until today when Aluminiumwerk Unna AG has reached the tenth anniversary of the privatization, the company has doubled its capacities through investments and by successfully growing its customer base together with the product range it can offer.
