How sustainability works at Aluminiumwerk Unna AG

Our aluminium is already convincing in terms of sustainability.
It has been in frequent use for decades in our high-quality products and can then be easily recycled and reused.
But we as a producer also make our contribution to climate protection through recycling.

PROTECTION THROUGH RECYCLING

At ALUnna we attach great importance to sustainable and environmentally friendly manufacturing. The efficient use of energy is a challenge both within the company and for society as a whole: This is why we also motivate our employees to continue the careful use of energy in their everyday lives.

We are constantly optimising our processes in the interests of sustainability. This applies to energy use, internal waste heat utilisation, sustainable purchasing, the use of modern and efficient production processes, and the selection of environmentally friendly and labour-saving operating and auxiliary materials.

We achieve our goal of conserving resources through our high-quality waste management system – also because it is actively supported by all stakeholders. We protect the environment through the safe storage and controlled handling of substances hazardous to water or volatile substances.

Cost-effective measures in this area are supported by the management. They are subject to special, sustainable considerations of economic efficiency.
We are committed to continuous improvement and compliance with our legal obligations.

Energy management system

The environmental and energy management system according to DIN EN ISO 14001 and DIN EN ISO 50001 is firmly installed in our integrated management system. This also ensures its effectiveness and maintenance.

Awareness

We promote awareness of occupational safety, health and environmental protection, and energy conservation among all employees. Regular information and training keep everyone involved up to date.

Intranet

Via our intranet, we ensure that all those responsible at the plant are adequately informed – or can obtain information at any time. All documents relating to the implementation of our corporate policy are available here, in particular on energy use at individual pieces of equipment.

Customers & suppliers

We inform customers and suppliers about our integrated corporate policy. Interested members of the public also receive extensive information on our website and in notices posted at the plant.
