Aluminiumwerk Unna AG produces aluminium tubes for the aviation industry. Some examples are control rods, drive shafts, door and seat components or media-carrying tubes (high and low pressure systems). All these applications are highly demanding in terms of processing of the finished tube and also due to the number of different alloys which range from medium to difficult extrudability.
In this illustration, you can see where our aluminium tubes are used for aircraft or helicopters..
Aluminium tubes for the aerospace industry must meet strict requirements during production. To this purpose, Aluminiumwerk Unna AG has regular audits carried out by customers and external certification companies. This ensures that the tubes meet the required standards.
This is why we pay particular attention to compliance with requirements such as surface quality, dimensions and tolerances and mechanical properties in the production of aluminium tubes for aerospace applications.
In many cases we also perform special release tests (electrical conductivity, eddy current, ultrasonic and corrosion tests). The critical parameters of each manufacturing step are controlled and monitored for each production lot. Many of the aerospace aluminium tubes require qualified heat treatment to achieve the final strength of the material. At ALUnna, we perform the heat treatment process in compliance with the appropriate specification (e.g. AMS 2772). Our furnaces meet the requirements of AMS 2750 and we hold Nadcap accreditation for heat treatment.
