Fully automatic parts saw introduced

Aluminiumwerk Unna introduces fully automated parts saw to meet global demand for pickup truck aluminium alloy drive shafts

An innovative, fully automatic parts saw, representing an investment of € 850.000 has been introduced at Aluminiumwerk Unna to meet the increasing demand for aluminium alloy drive shafts for pickup trucks. The system consists of an automatic sawing machine with feeder, a deburring station and a fully automatic measuring station.

The system has a capacity of 1000 tubes per 8-hour shift and is currently undergoing commissioning trials prior to final acceptance. Due to the enormous global demand, the drive shafts produced are not only supplied to North, South and Central America but also to Asia. In a second expansion stage, an automated system to insert the foam core into each tube, which is currently a separate operation, will also be added to the equipment.
