Recently, an idea was presented in the press where Swiss climate researchers at the ETH Zurich did not mention flight bans, photovoltaic plants or restrictions for people and industry, but instead spread the knowledge that trees and forests are able to store large amounts of CO2 – in the long term, for many generations.
This year, the German Federal State of Schleswig-Holstein hosted the 29th anniversary celebrations for German Unity Day, and the idea of unity digging was developed: Each person plants a tree every year on German Unity Day.
Aluminiumwerk Unna AG joined this campaign and planted a tree at our site for each one of our employees. There are already large green areas on our company premises where trees, shrubs and grassland plants feel at home.
The first planting campaign took place on September 12. A total of almost 70 trees were planted on the grounds, and will be personally looked after by their respective tree sponsors over the coming years.
We encourage our employees and all our stakeholders to do the same and make this country greener. For us, it’s a win-win situation. In addition to the contribution to savings in CO2, noise and dust from the neighboring roads and railway lines are also reduced and filtered out.
